Art with Heart

Art with Heart will offer Autistic youth in rural Louisiana a welcoming, sensory-aware place to experience the joy of art, connect with other Autistic teens and feel supported exactly as they are, where they are in that moment.

Rubi’s intention is that this Karma Project will not only create a space where Autistic kids know they belong, but will also help our community expand into one where more Autistic children have access to opportunities to learn, create, and thrive.

Meet Rubi Johnson, artist and activist

Rubi is a 10th grader, Girl Scout, 4-H member, and lifelong lover of visual art in all its forms. Rubi created Art with Heart from a deeply personal experience. After an art class was unable to support her needs as an autistic student, she chose to turn that difficult moment into something meaningful for others. Living in a rural Louisiana community where opportunities and inclusive programs for autistic youth can be limited, Rubi saw an opportunity to help create what was missing.
