YOUNG ADULTS IN A SOCIAL IMPACT TRADE SCHOOL PROGRAM
YOUNG ADULTS IN A SOCIAL IMPACT TRADE SCHOOL PROGRAM
The young adults in the Youth Build Long Island program are from under-resourced communities and left High School without a Diploma. This program, under the organization United Way, seeks to offer job skills to these youth that will enable them to be independent and enrich their communities. Our Mindfulness and Meditation Karma Project at Youth Build shares practices that promote presence, stress management and emotional regulation skills. Our teacher shares tools that the youth can easily integrate into their everyday lives.

"I want to provide young people with some tools to allow them to remain present and deal with the stress and hardship of everyday life in a positive way."

Youth Build Long Island at United Way
At YouthBuild programs in the United States and across the globe, low-income young people learn construction skills through building affordable housing for homeless and low-income people in their neighborhoods and other community assets such as schools, playgrounds, and community centers.
For unemployed young people who left high school without a diploma, YouthBuild is an opportunity to reclaim their educations, gain the skills they need for employment, and become leaders in their communities.
