OUR KARMA PROJECT
YOGA in SPANISH for SINGLE MOTHERS in FAMILY AFFORDABLE HOUSING

Picture
This Karma Project is sponsored by lululemon athletica, East Hampton as a part of the Here To Be Program.  The team at the East Hampton store wanted to help make the practice of Yoga and Meditation available to the full time Spanish speaking residents of the Hamptons.

Bilingual Yoga Teacher Alexa Bennett, who is also an East Hampton native, will be offering this weekly class in Spanish at the Whalebone Village which is a local Not For Profit that provides the only Familyl Affordable Housing on the East End of Long Island and currently houses 28 single mothers as well as the elderly and disabled.  The classes are tailored to beginners and focus on providing tools of body awareness and breathing as a way to address the stress of the participants daily lives.

OUR TEACHER
ALEXA BENNETT

Alexa first found yoga after graduating from university and used it as a way to cope with the anxiety of an unclear future.  After volunteering at Eco Yoga Park outside of Buenos Aires, Argentina she formed an ever deeper connection to her practice.  In an effort to learn more and deepen her understanding of yoga, Alexa enrolled in the 200-hour teacher training at Kaivalya Yoga School in Tzununa, Guatemala.  Since completion of the course she has taught bilingual yoga classes in Colombia and is very excited to continue her teaching journey in her home town on the east end.
