YOGA AND MEDITATION WITH
VETERAN CAREGIVERS
Our class for Veteran Caregivers is a part of a full day of programming offered at the Easter Seals Veterans Rally Point in Norwalk, CT. Veteran and United We Om teacher Rebecca Smith will share practices and tools to address self-care and nervous system response in an accessible way. The movement, breathing and mindfulness practices can be integrated into the participants every day life, expanding their repertoire of stress management skills.

OUR TEACHER
Rebecca Smith
Getting more yoga into the hands of Veterans and those that care for/about them is what initially drove Rebecca to become a yoga teacher. The simple but profound practices of breath work, mindful movement, meditation, and guided rest quickly made a positive shift in her own life and she immediately began sharing them with her fellow Veterans at UCONN in 2010. Though her yoga career has taken several paths since then, teaching the Veteran community is still her most heart-centered work. Rebecca is a New Haven, CT based full time yoga teacher, E-RYT 500, co-teacher of 300 hour trainings with Lara Ward of Lotus Gardens Yoga School, and an ambassador and assistant trainer for Veterans Yoga Project.
"Often times, the people who could benefit from yoga practices the most have the least access to it, or may feel the most stigma attached to it. There are so many places the practice is being taken by great organizations to help alleviate these issues. It is an honor to be a part of United We Om. As a Veteran myself who has seen what dedicated practice can do, I’m particularly partial to providing yoga to my brothers & sisters in arms, and their support systems."
