YOGA AND MINDFULNESS IN
SUMMER CAMP FOR LOW INCOME CHILDREN
The children joining the pilot Summer Camp "Tuesday Summer Club" are from an under-resourced neighborhood with mostly Spanish speaking immigrant families. Usually these 3rd-5th graders might be home alone over the summer. Sharing the fun and calming practices of yoga and mindfulness start off the mornings in this camp program and give kids tools to bring home with them.
OUR TEACHER
"As a school psychologist, I mostly work with students with disabilities or those who are going through some sort of crisis or life changing event. Throughout all of my counseling sessions I have with these students, I've found that my teachings and background in yoga and meditation has provided them with the most comfort - and gives them the best tools that they can take with them to use when I am not available or they are not in school."
Emma Copp is from Huntington, NY and has a passion for sharing mindfulness with kids.
