OUR KARMA PROJECT
YOGA FOR ALCOHOL AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE RECOVERY
This project is sponsored by lululemon athletica, Riverhead.
Finding the right teacher was an important part of our project providing yoga and meditation for the inpatient/outpatient drug and alcohol recovery program at Mather Hospital. Lisa, who is 18+ years sober and in training to be a drug and alcohol recovery counselor was the perfect teacher. Lisa will offer the simple movement, breathing exercise and meditations of Kundalini Yoga, which were a part of her own recovery and can be adapted for any level of physical ability.
This Karma Project is sponsored by lululemon athletica as a part of the Here To Be Program. The team at the Riverhead store is supporting us in making the practice of Yoga and Meditation available to people struggling with recovery in their local community. |
OUR TEACHER
LISA ZAZZARINO
I have been practicing Yoga for many years. I was introduced to Kundalini Yoga in 2009 . I became and certified kundalini yoga (level 1) two years ago and I have been teaching even since. I believe that Yoga of all forms is a beautiful way to raise consciousness and should be available to everyone. Kundalini provides Kriyas, Meditation, and Breath work that everyone can do. Called the yoga for the household, these simple repetitious movements can be modified for all fitness levels and that is why I find that people from all walks of life can benefit. I have struggled with my own human conditions and believe that Yoga has provided me inner guidance, and allows me to keep my body fit and flexible. The classes provide me with a positive community. Oftentimes going to class might be the highlight of someones day. If I can share these teachings so others can benefit , then I am truly practicing Yoga.
