BILUNGUAL FAMILY YOGA in a
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SAFE HOUSE
The families living in Long Island Against Domestic Violence's Safe House love the chance to come together to breathe and relax. The classes include little kids, teens and their parent all taking time together to relax and gain tools for managing stress and healing trauma.
OUR TEACHER
Zaianna Ortiz
"As a first generation American, my parents were still figuring out their lives well into my teenage years. I've lived through the violence and chaos of addiction in the home, verbal and physical abuse and most poignantly the absence of self care, self awareness and holistic coping mechanisms until the age of 20, when I found yoga. While I see everyone as a reflection of my own human experience, I relate deeply to women and children who are tasked with the difficulties of their violent, unfortunate and stressful environment."
