WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
- Karma Project teachers are at least 200 hour Certified with Yoga Alliance or a comparable school.
- We also require that you attend the United We Om Karma Yoga Teacher Training (which is offered free of charge), or that you have completed a comparable training.
WHERE DO I START?
- You can navigate to our Teacher Training page and register for the next training. If a date has not already been announced we will contact you when it is. All applicants who have applied for the training on our website receive first dibs on a spot, over the "general public".
- If you feel you've completed a comparable training, or already have experience teaching a particular community, then you can Apply to Teach.
WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?
- Our Karma Projects are run in "cycles", and are usually 8-10 sessions and are held weekly with certain weeks off if there is a holiday or a teacher/organizational conflict.
- Some Karma Projects might continue into a second or third cycle without a break, while others might end after the first cycle. These decisions are based upon teacher/organizational schedules as well as what would best serve the community receiving the practice.
DO I VOLUNTEER MY TIME?
No. We hire our Karma Project teachers and pay them all the same rate of $50 per hour. The standard Karma Project class is one hour long. This is important to us as an energetic exchange that supports our teachers and values their work providing practice to all who need it. This also allows people who are not teachers, such as the students in our by-donation classes, to participate in our work by supporting our Karma Project teachers.
