YOGA AND MEDITATION IN AN
LGBTQ+ SUMMER CAMP
The stress of being a teen that identifies as LGBTQ+ can't be over-stated. This summer camp provided safe space and community for children and teens from Long Island who identify as a LGBTQ+. Board Advisor to the LGBTQ+ community and Yoga Teacher Alicia Carlson understands how they feel. She identifies as Queer and is passionate about creating space for young members of the community to feel safe and at home in their bodies and minds.

“I think growing up in the experience and understanding of how labels, body image and society often disrespect or make our youth feel less then is an important key to interacting with children, especially teens who may be on the queer spectrum.”
Alicia Carlson teaches High School students in Carnarsie, Brooklyn and has been practicing Yoga for ten years. She identifies as Queer and is passionate about sharing yoga with the LGBTQQAI community.
